Female Forms Series
bronze, clay, steel, mdf, plaster | 2013 - 2017
The female figure has been a focus of cross-cultural imagery throughout art history. Ideals of feminine beauty and form have traditionally been created by male artists for male audiences, therein reinforcing objectification of women from a fine art context.
Rather than taking a revisionist approach, this series creates the opposite by depicting representations of women in art by a female artist. Beyond the innate tone of sexuality associated with nude figures, this body of work questions the broader sociocultural framework for imagery of female forms for gender-inclusive audiences alike.
This sculpture series has exhibited with Dashboard Co-Op, KIBBEE Gallery, and TILA Studios.
